In Malawi, a stroke doesn’t just affect an individual; it impacts an entire family and community. At the Life After Stroke Centre (LASC) in Likuni, we believe that hospital discharge is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning of a new chapter of recovery. Founded by the Stroke Support Organization (SSO) Malawi our centre was established to fill the critical gap in long-term care. Led by Dr. Emmie Malewezi and Dr. George Chimatiro, we provide context-sensitive, resource-appropriate support to stroke survivors and their guardians in both rural and semi-urban Lilongwe.
