In Malawi, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) contribute to 28% of deaths annually, a figure that continues to rise as in all Sub-Saharan countries (WHO 2013). NCDs include cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes, cancers, and chronic respiratory illnesses. CVDs including stroke, have an 8.9% prevalence rate and responsibility for 12% of all deaths.
